How The Club Works

Everyone (kids and the Host) will be communicating through our custom video conferencing software called Base Camp. This allows everyone to see and hear each other. There’s up to 6 kids online at a time, plus the Host. Every half an hour there is the opportunity for new kids to join the club if there is space, or for someone’s club session to finish. Each session is 90 mins long.

At the beginning of each half hour, if there are new kids joining, the host will get to introduce them and get everyone quickly acquainted with each other. This allows for many friends to be made and constant new experiences!

Each week the host will explore popular and fun mini games with everyone. These games will be played on a private server with only the group! They will teach, learn and play with an expert guiding them every step of the way! Each week of the clubs will get better and better as they will have their favourite games and we get to re-explore them again.

Each club member will have lots of fun playing and learning, making many new friends all while being supervised by our amazing Codo Hosts!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who runs the club?
Each club is ran by a live host. They are there to organize the activities, supervise the game play, help the kids as needed and generally entertain!
All of our hosts are vetted and experienced with kids. They're all adults, and based in Alberta, Canada. Most of them work for our Laser Tag facility, Laser City.

How does the club work?
Codo Club run on our custom video conferencing system, that we call Base Camp. The members (up to 6 of them) and the Host can all see and hear each other. When we're playing games, like Minecraft and Roblox, we play on our own Private Servers, so it's just our group playing. Clubs run for 90 minutes, once a week for 7 weeks.

Do my kids need more screen time?
Fair point! We feel there's "good screen time" and "bad screen time", and we obviously feel our camps fall into the "good" category. Why? Well, rather than just mindlessly watching YouTube or playing video games, while kids are in our camps they're getting to socialize, develop important communication skills, plus being exposed to positive role models (our hosts). We totally understand that parents are wary about adding more screen time to their kids days, but our camps are about as good as screen time can be!

Are the clubs safe?
Yes. Our clubs are private (it's only the kids in that camp and their host) and secure (we use a unique "Codo Code" system to prevent un-authorized access). All of our Hosts are vetted and trained, plus all our clubs are monitored by a supervisor at all times.

Do parents need to help?
Generally no. Most kids are absolutely fine on their own once they get going. Some younger kids might need to assistance from mom or dad with using the computer, but we make everything super simple.
Before your first session you'll do an orientation to make sure all of your technology is properly setup and everything is working.
It's totally cool if you want to hang out with your child, but most parents take the opportunity to get some work done or have a break while their kids are at the club.
